As is well known, the story of chocolate begins in South America, and recent research has confirmed that the original homeland of the cacao tree is Ecuador. This new discovery, marking a shift in the origins of cacao, is due to a unique ceramic bottle found near the town of Palanda in the province of Zamora Chinchipe.
