The Long Night of Museums 2022 “Between Reality and Digital”

THE SEVENTEENTH LONG NIGHT OF THE MUSEUMS – AND THE THIRD FOR THE CHOCOLATE MUSEUM ZAGREB

 

This year’s Long Night of Museums, was held on January 28th, 2022 in conditions similar to last years. This meant in circumstances where cultural institutions needed to adapt to a new reality, when a significant part of the program had to take place in controlled conditions with adjusted content.

 

DIGITAL CONTENT FOR A NEW REALITY

 

In order to avoid creating crowds, the Chocolate Museum Zagreb prepared an amplitude of digital content for its online visitors. Unfortunately, there was no live guided tour through the Museum this year either, but everyone who wanted to get acquainted with the exhibition of the Chocolate Museum Zagreb could join the virtual guide via link.

 

ONLINE – FIND OUT WHAT BEAN-TO-BAR CHOCOLATE IS AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT

 

In the context of increased attention to the sustainability and impact of industrial chocolate production on the ecosystem and socio-economic issues plaguing cacao producers, a video panel titled “What is craft bean-to-bar chocolate and why is the production of such chocolate important today?” was prepared. The guests of the panel were Sanja Vladović, a certified chocolate taster and Stiv Kahlina, a chocolate maker and chocolatier.
 

 

 

ONLINE – DISCOVER THE HISTORY OF INDUSTRIAL CHOCOLATE PRODUCTION IN CROATIA

 

The curator of the Chocolate Museum Zagreb, Mr. Marko Španjol held a presentation in the exhibition on “History of industrial chocolate production in Croatia” in which he reminded the audience of factories that created the first offer of chocolate in this area. Like Riječka tvornica kakaa i čokolade (Rijeka cacao and chocolate factory) from the end of the 19th century, which was the first plant for the industrial production of chocolate in Croatia. After that, many more factories were founded, many of which unfortunately did not last, but created a demand for chocolate and thus paved the way to today’s Kraš and Zvečevo.  
 

 

ONLINE – WITNESS HOW HANDMADE PRALINES ARE MADE

 

A live presentation of the workshop “Making handcrafted pralines” was boradcasted live via the Instagram channel of the Chocolate Museum Zagreb at 18:30.

All day of Friday, January 28th visitors who came to the Chocolate Museum Zagreb in person had the chance to buy entrance tickets at a discounted price. And the opening hours were extended until 21:30.
